  “Aunt Kaylen… I am so afraid…” the boy said softly.

  “No, no, please don’t be. Your aunt is here and she`ll protect you” Kaylen said kissing the boy on his head.

  “Kaylen, we need to go” Rodric said as he followed her.

  “Ok”

  “Let me take Brian and you gather the team and go to the choppers! We`ll fly to Washington! Perhaps we still have time to prevent a disaster” Rodric said while taking Brian in his arms and walked to the exit.

  Chapter 3.

  It was almost 1 am when the car stopped. The driver was smart enough to park the car where the second entrance was, an entrance that employee would use. The men in the car rolled down their elastic black masks and got out the cars. They had chosen a good timing for the place was seemingly silent. They went to the entrance and Sancho, a tech genius who managed to find out the access code, pushed some buttons on the digital machine that would allow access if it recognized it and then a noise was heard, just like when someone unlocks a chest: they stepped inside.

  “You better do it right, Sancho. Otherwise all of us will suffer the consequences” Rogers aid to him. Tremaine was with them too, along other 4 men in Sancho`s team.

  “Don’t be stupid, Rogers. Of course I will do it right because I know what I am doing. let`s climb the staircase” he instructed them and as a result they followed him.

  “Please be careful on your footsteps and don’t make noise” he whispered to them.

  They nodded.

  “There are guards inside this building who are watching over. Put on your gas masks as I will set free a substance that will make them fall asleep”

  “All right” Rogers aside, pulling out from his bag gas masks for everybody. Once they put them on, Sancho revealed from his own bag a gun but funny enough, it wasn’t an ordinary gun. He raised it up toward the ceiling and pulled the trigger. Instead of a bullet, something else had been released: something that had a round shape and immediately glued itself by the ceiling. It started releasing the gas it contained inside. Sancho did so with other four shots and then waited. Soon enough the police men who acted as security of that place fell on the floor, completely asleep.

  “Well done, Sancho!” Rogers said.

  “Let`s move!” he said and walked ahead. “We need to be careful. There are sensor detector and x rays at this level” Sancho said while going to the technical panel. He opened it and from all those many wires and small unites with buttons on them; he stopped to the third on and typed a number on it. The sensor detector and x rays stopped.

  “Now we can move on to the fun part” he said while walking past them. Tremaine and the rest followed him. They walked on large lobby having marble statues on either side and in front was a big metallic door. He again typed a number on the digit unit and the door was opened. They walked further and shortly saw another big door. They were approaching the treasury now.

  “Is this it?” Tremaine asked him.

  “Yes, sir. Just give us several minutes and we`ll be good to go having all the money on us, too” Sancho replied revealing a small digit unit from his bag. It had a wire with two ends: one of them he glued it to the door and the other he stick it in his ear.

  “Come one, Sancho, hurry. This place is making me nervous” Rogers muttered.

  Sancho listened through that wire and when the combination of numbers was right, he typed the access code he had discovered a day before. He then pulled the handle and the door was opened.

  “Mr. Tremaine, the treasury is all yours” he said with a wicked smile. They stepped inside of what looked like a huge safe deposit. The walls were grey and in front of them laid the reason for which they got there in the first place: the dollars. Lots of them. So much that it took a life time to count it. They were piled up and wrapped around a colorless band.

  “Boss, this is….” Rogers said but lost his idea when seeing all that money.

  “We don’t have time to lose! Take your bags and fill them, take as much money as you can! We can’t be here for more than 2 minutes! So hurry!” Tremaine said to them with a risen voice.

  “Yes, boss!” they replied and rushed to the piles of dollars. They threw the money inside the bags as fast they could.

  “Hurry, hurry!” Tremaine shouted at them, fiercely.

  They kept stiffing the money in the bags but then a voice was heard and it wasn’t Tremaine`s.

  “F.B.I! Freeze! Raise your hands and don’t move!” commander Oscar Murphy shouted at them, holding his gun right at them. He wasn’t alone. Other officers were with him and had their guns pointed to Tremaine and his men, too.

  Rogers, Sancho and everybody else that were at the mountains of the dollars dropped the bags, raised the hands and easily turned around. The flashlights were so many that it nearly blinded them.

  “Well, what do we have here?” Tremaine said mockingly as he turned to the police officers as well.

  “Tremaine Daley, you are under arrest!”

  “You don’t say…”

  “Does this seem like a joke to you, boss? We’re going to jail!” Rogers said to him.

  “Your employee is right, Daley. You and all of them will serve many years in the prison. If you don’t know how to pray you better start learning”

  “How can this be, Sancho? You said that all it`s going to be safe, that the police won’t know that you found out the access code!” Tremaine turned his gaze to the man and screamed at him, eyes widened by anger.

  “Boss, I did my best, I swear! I don’t know the police found out, I took extra measures to go by as invisible as possible but….” Sancho said, quite frightened by his boss`s violent reaction.

  “Don’t blame it on your man, Daley. The fact that he discovered the code was part of our plan. We wanted him to find it” Murphy said while going to them with slow steps.

  Tremaine exchanged glares with Sancho and then looked at the police officer. But then he burst into a noisy laughter.

  “I am sure you don’t want me to believe that, do you?!” he said to Murphy but when seeing the officer`s serious face, Tremaine`s laughter faded.

  “You can believe what you want but this is the truth. We wanted him to find it. it was a bite and you fell for it, Daley. We made sure your man, Sancho, will follow every piece that we placed in his path, one by one until he will have found the ultimate and final component: the code”

  “Officers, commander Murphy…” Rodric said as he got there with Kaylen.

  “Oh, agent Callwader and Alston…You got here just in time” Murphy said looking at them. “Here he is. Here we have the man who`s done so much harm and whom we`ve been searching for so many years….”

  Rodric and Kaylen walked to them. She pierced Daley with ice cold eyes.

  “You miserable piece…How can you even sleep at night? How could you kidnap an entire family? How could you kill the parents of my nephew right before his eyes?” she said to him, giving him a despising glare.

  “Everybody has their talents, isn’t that right, honey?” Daley replied having a smirking smile on his face.

  Kaylen slammed him with all the power she could gather.

  “Take him from here. He has caused enough harm” she said still piercing him.

  Two officers came and put handcuffs around Tremaine`s hands.

  “You are under arrest. You have the right to remain silent. Everything you say can and will be used against you” one of them said and then walked away with Tremaine. Rogers, Sancho and everybody else were handcuffed too and were taken outside to the police cars.

  “Mr Murphy, thank you so much” Rodric said while shaking his hand. “The nightmare is finally over”

  “Indeed. It took us a lot to catch him but we finally did it. Daley and his team will spend many years behind the years. Thank you too for your collaboration. The results are always better and faster when two forces like FBI and the Delta Force unite. I am pleased for having ended this mission successfully”

leased too”

  “Agent Alston, I have heard many things about you. Mr. Smith always refers to you as one of his best soldiers” the man said to Kaylen, genuinely.

  “Thank you, sir. I am glad to hear that Mr. Smith thinks of me this way. I am doing my best to keep the standards high. Thank you, sir” she said, shaking hands with him.

  “You are a valuable component to the Delta Force team. Keep up the good work and amazing results” he enclosed.

  “Sir, I am curious to ask you” Rodric started saying.

  “Yes?”

  “Just when we got here, I heard you saying to Daley that the FBI wanted for Sancho to find the code. What did you mean by that?”

  Chapter 4.

  “Every bit of it was true, agent Callwader. You know that both the Delta Force and FBI were searching for this guy for a long time, don’t you?”

  “Yes, that is correct”

  “Well, when seeing that all of our other attempts failed, I thought that we should change the strategy, that we should have a different approach to it”

  “I see”

  “And so, I gather my team in a meeting and told them my plan. They agreed on it and then we went to the action part. I knew that Daley wanted the code. I also knew that he had someone to find it. And so, we identified this person and when seeing what his activity was, we easily started placing little pieces of hints and clues on his way”

  “Brilliant, sir!” Kaylen cheered.

  “Brilliant indeed as the plan brought us where we wanted to. Of course, while finding these “random” hints, Sancho thought that it`s his own doing, that he`s doing it all because of how smart he is”

  Rodric and Kaylen laughed.

  “In fact, it was the FBI playing with him, making him believe that he is the brain behind it all”

  “Exactly, agent Alston. This is what we wanted him to believe. Eventually, when the final piece was discovered, the code, he ran to Daley to give him the good news. He wouldn’t have done otherwise, could he?” Murphy said, smiling too.

  “Of course not. He fell in your trap, this is what he did”

  “Him, his boss and the rest, too”

  “Well done, Mr. Murphy. You did a great job” Kaylen said to him.

  “Always in the service of my people and country, agent Alston” he grinned. “Let`s go now. We are being waited” he added genuinely, and walked out the building.

  ∞∞∞

  After some days…

  “He is recovering, isn’t he?”

  Kaylen looked up to her right and saw Rodric. He took a seat next to her, on the grass.

  “He is indeed, Rodric. And I am so grateful for it. I was afraid…so afraid for him, for his life…” Kaylen replied while looking at Brian how he played in the sand with his toys.

  “Hey” Rodric said, putting his arm around her shoulders, “he is a great kid. He has you, it`s all he needs. I don’t doubt it that he misses his parents but you`re doing a wonderful job as a mother, Kaylen. Believe me”

  She smiled, gazing at him.

  “Do you really believe that, Rodric?”

  “Of course I do. Otherwise I wouldn’t be saying it”

  “Thank you. I will surely do my best as Brian is like my own child now”

  “You will be all right. Believe in you. And believe in him, too” Rodric added.

  “You are right. Um, what about you? What is your plan?”

  “My plan? I don’t understand” he pretended although he knew what she referred to.

  “I mean….Do you plan to stick around or….perhaps you plan to go back to Ireland?”

  “Gosh, I don’t know, really…I haven’t thought of it yet” Rodric answered. “Why? Is there anything that would stop me from leaving?” he said staring at her.

  Kaylen looked him in the eyes for a moment without saying anything thought.

  “I think there is, Rodric. And if there wouldn’t be, we can always find something” she smiled.

  “Is that so? Interesting, my dear. Such as?” he said, delighted by the game of words between them.

  Looking up to him she said:

  “Me. I could be a reason, Rodric. Would you still go if I were a reason for you to stay here?”

  “Kaylen, there is nothing I would want more” he said, taking her hand in his. “I would love to stay here, spend the rest of my life with you, have children with you…. I mean it, Kaylen. I would love all that” he said, honestly.

  Kaylen felt her heart racing. She placed a sweet kiss on his lips.

  “I would love that too, Rodric”

  “Kaylen, let`s go somewhere! Just you and I and Brian, all three of us!”

  “Go somewhere? Where, Rodric?” Kaylen smiled as she liked the idea.

  “We can choose any country we like! Let`s go a holiday! I think we deserve a break after all that has happened, what do you say?”

  “I think your idea is marvelous, Rodric! yes, let`s go on a holiday! It will be beautiful only the three of us!”

  “Oh I can`t wait, honey!” Rodric said and hugged her. “I will start searching for a destination and you can pack some things and we`ll be good to go!”

  “I agree, my love” she kissed him again. “Thank you for being so wonderful! I love you, Rodric Calwader!”

  “Not more than I do, Kaylen Alston! I want to be with you until the end of my days…I love you, I love you, I love you…” he said and kissed her tenderly.

  “Aunt Kaylen” Brian`s voice interrupted them.

  “Yes, Brian?”

  “I am hungry; can we go inside and eat? I don’t want to go there alone”

  “Oh honey, of course. Please come here, sweetheart” Kaylen said as she outstretched her arms to him. Brian ran to her and threw himself at her chest. “I love you so much, Brian” she kissed him on the forehead. Rodric brought both of them closer to him and kissed Kaylen on her head.

  “I have been looking for something like for a very long time. I love you both” he said as his heart overjoyed.
